Gutter Repair in Augusta, North Augusta and Columbia County
A gutter that sags, drips at a seam or pulls away from the fascia dumps water exactly where you do not want it: beside the foundation, behind the siding, or onto the front steps. Post the repair free and local gutter Pros bid.

What breaks here
The five gutter failures CSRA Pros see most.
- Sagging and pulled-out spikes. The classic Augusta failure. Decades of pine straw weight and wet winters loosen the old spike-and-ferrule hangers; the gutter bellies, water pools, and the fascia behind it rots. Fix: hidden screw hangers every 24 inches or closer, and new fascia where it is soft.
- Leaking seams and end caps. Sectional gutters have a seam every 10 feet. Summer heat and winter cold work the sealant loose. Fix: clean, dry and reseal with a gutter-grade sealant, or go seamless if the run has more than a few leaks.
- Wrong pitch. A gutter that holds water after rain is not pitched toward the downspout, often because a hanger dropped or the house settled. Fix: re-hang the run with a fall of about a quarter inch per 10 feet.
- Storm damage. Hurricane Helene on September 26 and 27, 2024 brought a measured 82 mph gust at Augusta Regional Airport and widespread tree damage across the CSRA. Limbs crush gutters, tear off downspouts and bend the drip edge. Fix: replace the damaged sections; on a long run, a seamless replacement often costs about the same as patching.
- Downspouts that dump at the wall. A downspout ending at the foundation puts hundreds of gallons against the house in one storm. Fix: extensions, splash blocks, or an underground drain to daylight, which matters most on red clay that drains slowly.
Repair or replace
When a repair is enough, and when it is throwing money at it.
Repair it when the gutter is aluminum or galvanized steel in sound shape and the problem is a hanger, a seam, a crushed section or a missing downspout. Most of these are one-visit jobs.
Replace it when the metal is rusted through, when there are leaks at several seams, when the gutter is undersized for the roof (water overshoots in every thunderstorm), or when the fascia behind a long run is rotten. Augusta averages about 44 inches of rain a year, with the heaviest months June through August, and an undersized gutter never catches up. See seamless gutter installation.
Vinyl gutters are rarely worth repairing here. CSRA summers make them brittle and the joints fail one after another.
The job
What to expect from a gutter repair visit.
- A look at the whole run, not just the drip you called about; a sag at one end usually means loose hangers along the length
- Gutters cleaned and flushed first, so the repair is made on dry, clean metal
- Hangers replaced with screws, seams resealed, end caps and outlets re-fitted, crushed sections swapped
- Fascia checked and, where soft, replaced before the gutter goes back on
- Downspouts re-strapped and extended away from the foundation
- A note on what was found, with photos if the roof edge or shingles need a roofer
Repairs are priced by the visit and the materials, with two-story and steep roofs costing more. Posting photos of the problem spot and the full gutter line gets you accurate quotes without a site visit.

FAQ
Gutter repair: common questions.
How much does gutter repair cost in Augusta?
It depends on what failed and how high the gutter is. Re-hanging a sagging run, resealing seams and replacing a crushed section are the common small jobs. On HammerDuck you post photos once and compare several quotes.
Can a sagging gutter be fixed without replacing it?
Usually, if the metal is sound. The Pro replaces the loose spikes with screw hangers, re-pitches the run and resets the end caps. If the fascia behind it is rotten, that gets replaced first.
My gutter leaks at the seams. Repair or replace?
One or two seams: reseal. Leaks at most seams on a run: replace with seamless, which has no seams to fail except at the corners.
Who fixes gutters damaged by a storm?
Gutter Pros handle bent runs and torn downspouts; a roofer handles the drip edge and shingles if a limb got those too. Post one job describing both and Pros will say which parts they cover.
Do I need a permit to repair gutters?
Ordinary gutter repair is maintenance, and we have not found a CSRA building office that requires a permit for it. Tying downspouts into a storm drain or sending more water onto a neighbor can bring local drainage rules into play; ask your Pro.
