OUR COMMITMENT

Non-Discrimination Policy

1. Our commitment

HammerDuck exists to make it easier for local contractors and local customers to find each other and be treated fairly - full stop. Discrimination has no place on this platform, in any direction. HammerDuck was built specifically to take power away from large, impersonal marketplaces and put it back in the hands of local people and local businesses; a platform that discriminates against any part of its own community would betray that purpose.

2. Who this protects

HammerDuck prohibits discrimination on the basis of race, color, national origin, ancestry, religion or creed, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, marital or familial status, pregnancy, age, disability, military or veteran status, source of income, or any other characteristic protected under applicable federal, state, or local law. This list is illustrative, not exhaustive - the underlying commitment is equal access and equal treatment for everyone who uses HammerDuck, regardless of who they are.

This explicitly includes LGBTQ+ individuals and families. Customers and contractors who are gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, or otherwise LGBTQ+ are entitled to the same access, the same treatment, and the same opportunities on HammerDuck as anyone else.

3. Equal access to the platform

HammerDuck does not restrict, limit, or condition access to posting projects, submitting bids, viewing profiles, leaving reviews, or any other platform feature based on any protected characteristic. Every eligible customer and contractor in the CSRA has the same access to the marketplace under the same rules.

4. Conduct expected of contractors

Contractors may not decline, deprioritize, or treat a bid or project differently because of a customer's race, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability, familial status, or any other protected characteristic. Contractors may decline any project for legitimate business reasons - schedule, distance, project scope, budget fit, and similar factors - but never for a discriminatory reason.

5. Conduct expected of customers

Customers may not decline, deprioritize, or treat a contractor's bid differently because of the contractor's (or the contractor's owners' or employees') race, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability, or any other protected characteristic. Customers choose who to hire based on the merits of the bid - price, experience, approach, and reviews - not on who the contractor is.

6. Harassment

Harassing, threatening, or abusive conduct directed at another user because of a protected characteristic - including slurs, hostile messages, or discriminatory reviews - is prohibited and treated as a serious violation of the Terms of Service, regardless of who the target is.

7. Founding Contractor selection

Founding Contractor slots are limited (currently 3 per trade in the CSRA) and selection is at HammerDuck's discretion, but that discretion is exercised using neutral, business-related criteria - such as trade category need, order of outreach or application, and completeness of a contractor's profile - never on the basis of any protected characteristic.

8. Reporting a concern

If you believe you've experienced or witnessed discrimination on HammerDuck, please report it to customerservice@hammerduck.com or through the Contact page. Reports are taken seriously and may result in a warning, suspension, or termination of the responsible account's access to the platform, consistent with the Terms of Service.

9. Relationship to other policies

This policy works alongside, and does not replace, the prohibited-conduct provisions in the Terms of Service. Nothing in this policy limits HammerDuck's ability to enforce those terms.
