HammerDuck

Opening soon in the CSRA

Post the job.Let the bids come to you.

HammerDuck is a home services marketplace built for the Central Savannah River Area and nowhere else. Homeowners describe what they need. Local Home Service Pros bid on it. You pick who you want to work with.

Serving 13 Georgia counties and 5 in South Carolina, from Augusta out. We are not open for business yet, and nothing on this page takes payment.

Built by one person in Augusta, for the people who live here.

Why this exists

Helene took the roof off. Then came the phone calls.

After Hurricane Helene came through the CSRA, half of this area needed the same handful of trades at the same time. If you lived here, you remember what that was like. You left messages that never got returned. You got quoted numbers by crews who rolled in from four states away and were gone before the season turned. And the apps everybody already had on their phone were not built to help with any of it.

Here is the part most homeowners never see. On the national platforms, the local Pro you were trying to reach was having an equally bad month. Every time you filled out a form, that same request typically went out to several Pros at once, and each one of them was charged for the privilege of contacting you — whether they got the job, whether you called them back, whether you were even a serious lead. Good Pros around here quietly stopped answering, because the math had stopped working.

Both sides were losing. Only the platform was winning.

HammerDuck was built out of that specific frustration, in this specific place. It is not a national company testing a market. It is eighteen counties, one owner who lives in them, and a set of rules written so a two-truck outfit is not structurally beaten by a twenty-truck outfit before either one says a word to you.

That is the whole idea. Keep the money local, keep the rules the same for everybody, and get out of the way so a homeowner and a Pro can just talk.

HammerDuck vs. the big platforms

Same job. Completely different deal.

The difference is not the features. It is who the business model is built to protect. Read it straight across.

What a Pro pays
Per lead. Commonly $15–$100 or more for a single contact, and on some platforms an annual fee on top of that.
A flat $25 a month that includes 10 Bid Tokens. Founding Pros pay $20, locked for life. Nothing is charged per homeowner.
Who gets your project
One request is typically pushed to several Pros at once, and every one of them gets billed for it.
Pros choose to spend one Bid Token to bid. They only spend it when they actually want your job.
If the job falls through
The Pro already paid. That money is gone whether or not a shovel ever hit the ground.
Cancel here and every Pro who bid gets their Token back. Nobody pays for work that never happened.
Can money buy the top spot
Spend more, get seen more. Volume wins, and the biggest budget usually reaches you first.
No unlimited tier. Ever. We refuse to sell an advantage that would let one outfit bury the smaller ones.
Where they operate
The entire country. Your county is a row in a database somewhere else.
Eighteen counties. 13 in Georgia, 5 in South Carolina. Enforced in the software, not just promised.
What it costs a homeowner
Free to post — then the calls start, because speed of contact is what the model rewards.
Free to post, always. No cut of your job. You read the bids and reach out on your own time.
Who you reach with a problem
A support queue at a company headquartered a long way from Augusta.
The owner. One person, in the CSRA, who has to see you at the store afterward.

Per-lead pricing reflects widely reported industry ranges that vary by trade, season and market — check the relevant platform's current terms for exact numbers. HammerDuck pricing above is what we intend to launch with and is informational until we open.

Here is how it will work

1

A homeowner posts a project

What needs doing, roughly where, and how soon. Posting is free, and it stays free. No fee to describe your own kitchen.

2

Local Home Service Pros bid on it

Home Service Pros nearby see the job and send a real quote. Every Pro pays the same flat membership, so nobody buys their way to the top of your list.

3

The homeowner chooses

Compare the bids, message the Pros, and hire whoever fits. HammerDuck does not pick for you and does not take a cut of the job.

What we are committing to

The rules we are not willing to break.

Plenty of platforms started out fair. The ones that stopped being fair did it one reasonable-sounding decision at a time. These are the ones we are saying out loud, in public, before we open, so you can hold us to them.

No unlimited tier

Not now, not later, not as a "pro plus" upsell. The moment one Pro can buy unlimited reach, every smaller operator in that trade starts losing on budget instead of merit.

Posting stays free

Homeowners never pay to describe their own project, and HammerDuck never takes a percentage of the job you agree to. What you settle on with your Pro is between the two of you.

Your details are not for sale

We are not a lead broker. Your name, number and project do not get packaged up and sold on to anyone, on either side of the marketplace.

The CSRA, or nothing

The service area is enforced in the database itself, not just written on a page. If we ever grow past these counties, it will be a deliberate announcement, not a quiet switch.

Founding Home Service Pros get in cheap and stay cheap

The Pros who take a chance on a marketplace before it has customers are the reason it ever gets any. That is worth paying for, permanently.

3

Per trade, no matter the trade. Roofers, plumbers, electricians, painters, carpenters, landscapers, and everyone in between — three founding spots each, across the entire CSRA. When a trade fills, it closes.

$20

A month, locked for life. Everyone else pays $25. Your rate holds for as long as your membership stays active and in good standing.

60

Days free to start. Two full months before a card is charged, so you can see whether the work is really there before you spend anything.

The founding badge, permanently. It sits on your profile where homeowners see it, and it does not get handed out again later.

Put your name down

Tell us your trade and we will hold you a founding spot if one is still open in it. No card, no commitment, and no charge until HammerDuck actually opens.
